Out

This is Owen after coming home from daycare.  He passed out in the car, stayed pretty much asleep while I carried him inside, then remained asleep once I carefully placed him in the bouncy seat.  He is now snoring.  These successful transfers are rare and I'm enjoying it.

Mmm Mum Mums

While shopping at a different store today I found mum mums.  I'd heard about them and decided to get some for Owen.  I let him check out the box.  He decided to keep quiet about them being made in China as he really wanted to try them (later google search assured me they are very safe, FDA has tested them).
Excited for a "treat".
First bites.
I think he likes it.

He really liked it.  It's some sort of rice cookie that dissolves easily, like a giant piece of rice krispy, it even snaps, crackles, and pops.  I found original and vegetable ones, I think the original taste better but they are both good since I tried them too.  He gives his approval.

Later that night he was a bundle of energy.  This is him a little before bed.  He really loves clapping, though still figuring out when to do it.  He'll clap while eating, while getting his diaper changed, while playing, when getting in his car seat, even when getting put to bed.  This is funny as he is fussy then starts clapping and smiling.

Trip to playground and other pics

This weekend we took Owen to the playground for the first time.  We tried out the slide and went in the swing.  Steve thought I wanted him to go on a regular swing, didn't know there were baby swings.  We brought bubbles too but it was too windy.  I think he felt like he was flying.   We also took some pictures in front of one of his blankets since he has his Red Sox shirt on.

We took some pictures in the backyard in the daffodils.  Owen thought it was important to see what they tasted like.

Go go Gadget!

I loved Inspector Gadget when I was little.   Owen thinks his arms are extendable, or at least wishes they are.  He is always reaching for things beyond his reach to chew on, like cardboard in the recycling.  Here he is deciding that scooting is too slow and maybe his arms will reach the piano.

Happy Easter!

We had an Easter photoshoot last weekend.  The highlights are viewable in this album here.  Here is how he spent his Easter with his first tooth and an ear infection.

Drooling like crazy:

Chewing on everything, including himself:

Playing the piano (Dad even tried some songs):

Chewing on the back of the pacifier:

And finally checking out the Easter basket:

We have a tooth

Owen is not happy.  He may have an ear infection too.  I’ve been thinking that I feel a tooth the last week.  Today I felt the jagged points.  Baby Oraje seems like a joke.  First off he sucked it off my finger before I got most of it on his gums.  I tried it myself, initially thinking it was great as it numbed my tongue.  Five minutes later it wore off though.  He’s a cranky pants.

First Concert

Owen went to his first concert last night.  This photo is from before we left, trying out the headphones one last time.

Here he is checking out his outfit.  The camo cords are getting a little short, and the shirt is technically 12-18 months (though the company is known for running small).  I picked up the shirt at a etsy christmas show in NYC, the day before I found out I was pregnant.  It says no more monkeys jumping on the bed.  He even wore some shoes, which he likes to bend over and chew.

He did great at the Gaelic Storm concert.  He cried a bit when we first walked in, par for the course.  He chilled out while we had dinner and then Steve held him across the table while I fed him.  He kept checking out the giant screen showing the stage.  All the concentrating wore him out.  Headphones didn’t bother him once we put them on and he fell asleep 3 songs in.  People walked by and laughed seeing him passed out in my lap with his arms dangling.  He had a bad day at daycare today, which could be from staying out late (he was up from 11-midnight) or having different caregivers today when we went in.
